Welcome to The Village of Hecker…
Village Newsletter: Latest Edition
Hecker Residents:
The Village of Hecker has been experiencing problems with wet wipes and other trash getting caught in the sewer lagoon aerators causing damage to the equipment. This requires the Village to hire a company to clean the aerators and get them operational once again. The cost for this maintenance is becoming significant. We respectfully request that you refrain from throwing any wet wipes, feminine products, cat litter, cotton balls, plastic, etc. into any toilets. Even products marketed as “flushable” may not degrade over time and can cause issues with the sewer network or treatment equipment. Please only throw toilet paper in the toilets. We appreciate your help in reducing the Village’s costs and keeping our sewer lagoon functioning properly.
Monroe County and all of its municipality’s have changed vendors for our “Reverse 911” service. This is the service that calls your phone in emergency situations and community announcements. The service will automatically call all landline phones in the village for emergency calls. Due to new government regulations you must elect to be called during severe weather. Also if you want to include your cell phone number(s) you can also do that at this time. We have used this service in the past for planned water outages and trash schedule changes but could also be used to inform you of evacuations, boil orders, shelter information in inclement weather when power may be out. All households are encouraged to sign up and enroll your cell phone numbers. Do this by clicking on the Code Red link.
Village code requires certain buildings to participate in the fire department rapid access lock box program. There is also a home lock box program that is voluntary however homes with a resident that has health issues or homes with an automatic fire alarm systems would be a great fit for the program.
